Mobile air conditioner (MAC)        
                        In production sector, The Department of Industrial Works provides it assistance to a manufacturer of mobile air conditioner to remove its compressor production.

                        For service sector, the Department has been endorsed another Grand Fund from the Multilateral Fund through the World Bank for 900,000 US dollars to implement a demonstration project titled the Thailand MAC Project. This project focuses on MAC servicing shops by providing subsidy in form of voucher to these shops for purchasing storage and recovery machine for R-12 (CFC-12) refrigerant, however, the value of voucher does not covers all the cost of equipment, the excess is paid by the beneficiaries. This equipment is useful in term of minimizing the release of CFC-12 while maintaining MAC by storing this CFC-12 and recovering it for future use when it is completely phased out in 2010. Besides receiving equipment, beneficiaries are able to upgrade their service by receiving training on how to maintain MAC without disturbing ozone layer.
                        This MAC project is implemented in 5 phases covering MAC servicing shops in Bangkok and vicinity areas as well as Eastern and Northern provinces with 191 beneficiaries at total or accounted to 60.33 ODP tonnes of CFC-12. Data obtained from this project is also brought for applying in MAC servicing sector of the National CFC Phaseout Plan (NCFCP).
